[Discount Code + Giveaway] StickerKid Labels & Stickers

Recently, Laurent’s infant care teachers just told us that they are making some changes to his nap and feeding routine so that he can be accustomed to the toddlers’ timetable when he move over to playgroup in 3 months’ time.

It was then that we suddenly realise he has been in infant care for a good 7 months! How time flies…

I was looking at all his bottles and containers which we usually bring to infant care and thought about how excited we were when we were labelling his belongings for his first day of “school”.

Those name labels were definitely showing signs of 7 months worth of washing and steaming. Some of the labels have even fallen off and the teachers had to write his initials in marker 😐

We’ve just received our set of new name labels from StickerKid so I decided to change all the labels for his infant care belonging to the new ones.

[Homebound] Bathroom Cleaning with Method and Full Circle

I’ll be completely honest here – I’ve always regarded bathroom cleaning as a dirty job.

So for the first 2 years of having our own place, Wayne had been the one stuck with this item on our list of chores. During my maternity leave last year, I thought I’d try to do as much of the housework as I can so that Wayne can spend more time with Laurent, especially during the precious weekends. That was when I started cleaning our bathrooms and I’ve been trying to find ways to make bathroom cleaning less painless and time-consuming since.

Like I mentioned in my Kitchen Cleaning post, having the right tools and products on hand will help to cut cleaning time and make the cleaning process much more enjoyable.

[Homebound] Kitchen Clean-up With Method & Full Circle

How did you spend your long weekend?

We managed to catch some fresh air in the park after breakfast last Friday morning and spent the rest of the day giving our home a major deep cleaning. It was seriously back-breaking, but absolutely rewarding 🙂 I took the chance to take photos of part of the process (incl before & after photos) and I can’t wait to share with you a little tip on making your chrome shower fittings shine like BRAND NEW! But that will have to wait till the bathroom cleaning post of the series 😉

Since we were just showing you guys our kitchen in the previous post, I thought it will be useful for me to share about our kitchen cleaning routine. It’s nothing revolutionary, I’m just sharing some of the products I use to make the cleaning process more enjoyable and some gentle reminders on areas we tend to miss out during our cleaning.

Last Saturday, I offered to make breakfast and we had a very simple brunch with bread, jam and butter, all freshly churned out from the kitchen. I’m quite embarrassed to say but when I’m the one prepping food in the kitchen, it looks like a tornado just past through. And I still haven’t gotten around to practicing cleaning-as-I-cook. So after the (simple) meal, there is still a lot of things to clean up.

Here’s a look at the cleaning process!

[Giveaway] Abbott’s #MyKidsPotential Quiz + Goodie Pack Giveaway

What was your childhood ambition? What did you want to be when you grow up?

I had so many childhood dreams, I can’t quite remember which ones I was really serious about!

Now that I have my own child, I can’t help but wonder what Laurent will grow up to be like, what strengths will he possess and what profession will he undertake in the future.

Out of curiosity, I took Abbott’s newly launched #MyKidsPotential Quiz and this was the result we got!

From what we observe so far, he does enjoy attention quite a bit!

Well, movie star or not, only time can tell. But it was pretty great fun doing the quiz and finding out what Laurent’s potential is based on his current likes, dislikes and personality!

What we can do now as parents, is not to force them to develop in the way we want them to, but to make sure they are growing up safe, healthy and well-nourished so that they have a strong and balanced foundation to discover who they truly want to be and to chase their own dreams.

Give the quiz a try to find out what your kids’ potential is and receive a fun goodie pack by the lovely people from Abbott!

’Tis the Season to be Giving + Giveaway

It’s December which means it’s the cheery and joyous time of the year again!

I love the holiday season because there are pretty lights, they play happy songs in the malls, I have a ton of gatherings to attend and everyone just seem happier during this period 🙂

Our renovation for the new house has completed so besides all the merry making, we are also getting ready to move in this coming weekend!! More about our renovation journey in another post next time 🙂

Photo 18-12-14 9 21 44 am

I’ve been (very) slowly packing to prepare for the move and while doing so, I found a ton of stuff we no longer need. Some of these are still in good/ working condition but we don’t need them any more and I wish to take this opportunity to declutter as much as I can before moving to the new place.

I figured the best way is to donate them to others who may find them useful so I went on to search for places where I can send these stuff to. During my search I came across a request on https://www.passiton.org.sg, of a single mum asking for some necessities for a baby boy due in end November. It jumped out at me and I responded to it immediately.

Laurent has been greatly blessed with beautiful gifts and hand-me-downs from our relatives and friends, But because he had quickly outgrown some of the clothes before he could wear them and his doting grandparents, aunties and uncles are always showering him with new clothes every now and then, I packed away some of the lovely hand-me-down pieces and gift sets for the mummy, together with a rocker, new bottles, pacifiers and baby toiletries.

That very evening after I responded to the request, the social worker in charge contacted me and told me that the mummy had just given birth to her beautiful baby boy! The social worker came to collect the stuff the next day and I thank God for His perfect timing!

I believe many of us will be packing and organising our homes to welcome the new year and, like me, many of you will have things that you know you will no longer use. If they are still in good and working condition, do consider donating them! Nowadays I will randomly pop by the https://www.passiton.org.sg website to read the requests and see if there are anything I can offer. Many of these requests are so basic, I am sure many of us have the ability to bless the items to those who need them.

Besides gifting items, you can also consider blessing the less fortunate with monetary donation (especially when it’s bonus month, right?). We are currently supporting a child in Laos through monthly donation via Worldvision and would like to urge you guys to consider doing so as well because a monthly donation of $45 (which you can easily spend on a single dinner) can do so much for the child’s community. But if you are not ready for the  monthly commitment yet, you can check out https://myvision.worldvision.org.sg/support.php to make one-time donation for specific campaigns.

The Paperbunny is currently running a campaign termed #Preciousandpriceless to raise awareness for the issue of child slavery and trafficking as well as to raise funds for this cause. You can read about the campaign and support it at this link.

In this season of love and joy, as we round up the year that has passed and make new resolutions to better ourselves and our lives, let’s not forget the intangible gifts that are more precious than the physical ones. The gift of love, joy, time, presence, patience, positivity, prayers…

For me, it is as simple as writing a Christmas card to the mummy whom we’ve blessed the baby items, just to send some love, joy and encouragement to her, as well as to our boy in Laos, hoping that the season’s greeting will bring him some sparkle 🙂

Photo 16-12-14 10 19 57 am

So while we recount the love and blessings that we have been receiving and busk in the joy that has so fortunately surrounded us, don’t forget to GIVE and bless others too!
